About Equipment Based Physiotherapy
What is Equipment based Physiotherapy?
Equipment based physiotherapy – referred to in practice as „KGG" – is a remedy treatment prescribed by a physician that may only be provided by physiotherapists with certified additional training in a certified training environment. It is used specifically to restore full physical resilience after injuries, surgery, or for chronic conditions – using medical training equipment, cable pulleys, free weights, and functional training.
KGG enables a high training intensity and precise control of the workload. It thus closes the important gap between therapy and independent, long-term training.
Treatment goals
Goals of Equipment based Physiotherapy
At Somana in Berlin Mitte, we pursue clear, measurable goals with every KGG treatment:
Building Strength and Muscle Mass
Weakened muscles are built up systematically and safely under therapeutic supervision – with the right dosage of load, repetitions, and rest.
Restoring Full Resilience
After surgery or injury, your body is gradually made more resilient – until you are fully back in everyday life, work, and sport.
Improving Core and Joint Stability
Stabilizing muscle groups are specifically trained to protect the joints and prevent harmful loading patterns.
Pain Reduction through Movement
For chronic back, knee, or shoulder complaints, progressive training has been shown to be one of the most effective means of long-term pain relief.
Education and Self-management
You understand how load, recovery, and progression relate to each other – and can continue your training independently after therapy ends.
